Planning your wedding flowers is one of the most exciting parts about your big day, and as professional, wedding floral designers, we know that a great floral consultation can set the tone for a truly stunning celebration. Whether you are envisioning an intimate garden ceremony or a bold, modern affair, the key to a successful consultation is preparation.

1. Set a Realistic Floral Budget

We will want to talk budget. Establish a target budget goal for the entire wedding then decide whats most important – flowers and design, photography, food and beverage or entertainment? Whatever you decide is fine! Even if you only establish a range of what feels comfortable, we can discuss what is realistic based on your vision. It is also okay if you have no idea! Your wedding budget is your wedding budget! We can help you understand how to best spend those funds. You don’t need an exact figure, but a ballpark range helps us recommend designs that align with your vision and your investment.

2. Bring Visual Inspiration

Photos speak louder than words. Before your floral design consultation, gather images that reflect your style—Pinterest boards, saved Instagram posts, or even snapshots from weddings you’ve attended. This gives us insight into your floral aesthetic, color preferences, and the overall vibe you’re drawn to. Floral inspiration is very important to us, we especially want ideas of what you want your bridal bouquet to look like!

3. Share the Details of Your Wedding Day

To create a cohesive floral plan, we need to know more than just the colors. As wedding florists, we’re not just here to talk flower colors (though we do love a good palette!) — we’re here to bring your full wedding vision to life. That’s why we ask about details like your ceremony setup, bridal party size, and guest count. These elements help us design florals that feel intentional and cohesive — not just pretty, but perfectly placed within your floor plan and overall event design.

Some helpful details include:
– Wedding date and venue(s)
– Ceremony and reception start times
– Bridal party size
– Color palette for both the flowers and the overall wedding palette
– Guest count
– Table layout or floor plans (if available)
– How elaborate of a ceremony design are you thinking

4. Know Your Must-Haves vs. Nice-to-Haves

Come to your consultation with a list of “must-have” floral elements—like a bridal bouquet, archway installation, or aisle flowers. Also think about which items are “nice-to-haves,” like floral photo backdrops or additional reception arrangements. This helps us prioritize your budget for the biggest impact.

5. Be Open to Seasonal Flower Substitutions

Not all flowers are available year-round—and that’s okay! Part of our role as a wedding floral designers are recommending seasonal blooms that match your style and stay within your budget. You’ll be surprised how many gorgeous alternatives are out there.

6. Ask the Right Questions

During our consultation, no question is too small — we’re here to help! We want our couples to feel completely at ease, so we always encourage open conversation about our services, process, and what to expect. Building trust is important to us, and our goal is for you to walk away feeling confident, comfortable, and excited knowing we’re in your corner.

Feel free to ask about:
– Flower delivery and setup timelines
– What all is included on the wedding day
– Sustainability practices or local flower sourcing
– What do we do with the flowers after the wedding

7. Trust Your Floral Designer’s Expertise

You’re hiring a professional for a reason! We are not just to arrange flowers—but to help create a floral experience that fits your day perfectly. Trust the creative process, and be open to suggestions that enhance your vision.
